THE PROBLEM
The Indonesian tourism sector faces interconnected challenges: over-tourism, weak governance, severe price instability, and social-environmental degradation. Unmanaged destination growth causes environmental damage, exacerbated by overlapping regulations and low-certified labor. Travelers frequently encounter unfair seasonal price spikes, lack of financial transparency, and illegal levies. These economic frustrations are compounded by widespread scams, harassment, littering, and broken public infrastructure. Liboorin acts as an integrated digital solution to establish absolute price transparency, clear public information, and sustainable, community-based destination management.
DESIGN PROCESS
Design Thinking Process
We used Design Thinking method to understand users, challenge assumptions, define problems and create innovative solutions to prototype. In this scenario, I will explain the timeline using design thinking process.

User Research
To kick things off, we combined qualitative and quantitative methods by conducting deep interviews alongside field surveys using Likert scales. We gathered both rich personal stories and measurable data from our respondents. Afterward, we funneled these mixed insights into key outputs, including user personas, an empathy map, and a value proposition canvas. This approach helped us truly understand their struggles and validate our product solution.
Interview Points
Our interviews successfully unlocked invaluable firsthand perspectives from domestic tourists, foreign travelers, and local destination managers. These conversations exposed their genuine satisfaction levels and the real, everyday struggles they face on the ground.

Quantitative Results
Our quantitative survey results provided clear statistical backing to our field research. By looking closely at the numbers, we uncovered defining trends in user habits, safety priorities, budgeting choices, and satisfaction rates, highlighting exactly where the current tourism experience needs a major upgrade.

Competitor Analysis

User Persona
Meet Hanny, a traveler seeking authentic experiences, and Pak Wayan, a local homestay owner. Their distinct goals and frustrations directly guided our entire application design.

Empathy Mapping
We built this empathy map to look beyond numbers and truly connect with our users on a human level. It clearly laid out their inner experiences, revealing that both travelers and locals feel deeply anxious about environmental damage and rampant tourist scams.
We discovered they are highly frustrated by complicated bureaucracy and broken facilities, which directly drives their desire for absolute pricing transparency and smarter ways to avoid overcrowded spaces.
